Our First International Customer – Te Arai Golf Links

It has been a busy year for Handicaddie and a lot has changed since officially launching our services. We have spoken to numerous golf course across the globe and are continuing to gain more customers. We thought it would be a great opportunity to tell you about the amazing golf clubs that have decided to use our product.

New Zealand is a country renowned for its stunning landscapes and outdoor activities. While not commonly associated with world-class golf courses, Te Arai Links Golf Club is changing that perception. Located along the picturesque east coast of New Zealand’s North Island, Ter Arai Links offers golf enthusiasts an unparalleled experience amidst the breath-taking natural surroundings. Location and Setting.

Te Arai Links is situated in the Mangawhai, nestled into the undulating coastal landscape. This stunning golf resort offers two pure links courses overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The South Course effortlessly blends in with its breath-taking natural environment, incorporating the gentle slopes of the dunes, native grasses, and coastal vegetation. This seamless integration creates a golfing oasis that immerses players in the captivating beauty of New Zealand’s coastal landscape. Renowned course architect Tom Doak envisioned a sustainable golf course that harmoniously coexists with the surrounding land, utilising natural design principles. The result is a course that not only showcases the stunning scenery but also ensures its long-term preservation for future generations to enjoy. This will come to no surprise that the course is visually stunning with the sea in constant view for no less than 16 holes. 

The North Course which has only recently started construction in January 2022 and is set to be opened in October 2023. This course belongs to Tara Iti Golf Club, which is in fact the sister course of Te Arai Links.

Golf Strategy

Te Arai Links offers 18 holes of pure golfing paradise. The course takes players through undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and fast greens that require precision and strategic thinking. However, wide fairways offering generous landing zones meaning limited opportunities to lose your golf ball. Like any other links course, scoring opportunities are presented only to approaches from the correct side of the fairway.

The course’s main defence is the green complexes. With subtle sloping greens combined with drastic run offs make second shots crucial for scoring – otherwise your short-game best be on point!

The course is not designed to beat you with tricky hazards or length, but rather to challenge you creatively. There is more than one way to tackle each of the challenges you will face out there, ensuring that each round feels distinct. The ever-present ocean breeze adds an extra challenge, making club selection and shot execution crucial. Each hole at Te Arai Links provides a unique and memorable experience, making it a joy to play for golfers seeking a true test of their skills.

Te Arai Links Golf Club goes beyond the outstanding golf course, offering world-class facilities to enhance the overall experience. The clubhouse provides a welcoming atmosphere where players can relax, socialise, grab a drink and enjoy the post-round breakdown. If looking for somewhere to stay then Te Arai has you covered, with the choice suite, villas or cottages located onsite overlooking the South Course. These modern luxurious structures have been designed to blend into the natural surroundings, so that they feel like they belong.
